How it works

The job in order

Every basement runs on the same six steps. What changes is how long the water part takes.

  1. 01

    Step 1: The moisture check

A morning at the house. A written report follows within a few working days.

  2. 02

Step 2: The plan and the number

A written scope with what's in it and what isn't, a schedule and a price.

  3. 03

Step 3: Drain and dry in

Tile, pit, pump and discharge, plus the outside work, tested with water.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Frame and insulate

Walls off the concrete, rough-in inspected, insulation in.

  5. 05

    Step 5: Finish

Drywall, ceiling, floor, trim and paint.

  6. 06

    Step 6: The second reading

After the first heavy rain, we read the same spots again and tell you what we find.

Week one

What happens in the first week of work

Who comes, what's covered and what's shut off.

  • Monday

The crew covers the stairs and the path to the door with floor protection, and seals the basement with plastic.

  • Tuesday to Thursday

Cutting and digging. It's dusty and loud. Water is shut off at the fixtures in the area we're working.

  • Friday

We pour water through the new system and watch the pit. You see the test.

Living in the house

You can stay

The crew uses one door, and we protect the way to it. The basement is closed off with plastic during the dusty work. A shop vacuum with a HEPA filter runs through the day.

Dry-in work is scheduled for dry weather, so an open trench doesn't meet a storm. Finish carpentry runs through winter.
